This is a 100% authentic Native American made tool, thousands of years old. Period Mississippian, 700-350 B.P.- This would be referred as a blade. A large bi-pointed knife with alternate beveling. Preforms for the Harahey have rounded ends and they attain the elliptical, bi-pointed shape after numerous resharpenings. Most will have all four blade edges beveled alternately and look like a propler however, some examples have only two bevels on one end and a short pointed or rounded basal area. Made with large, flat, percussion flakes. Cross section is rhomboid. NOTE: The true buffalo shinning knife often found associated with small arrow points. Alibates seems to be the preferred material for Harahey knives in west Texas. I.D. KEY: Steep bevels
