Tourmaline is a wildly popular mineral and gemstone the world over. Like Quartz, Tourmaline comes in a great many colors and varieties, and these different varieties all have names associated with them, but they are all tourmaline. Some of these names are Elbaite (Green, Pink), Schorl (Black), Dravite (Black+Brown), Indicolite (Blue), Rubelite (Pink+Red) and Achroite (Clear), however I find that nowadays people do not use these variety names as much, and instead label specimens as just Tourmaline, or Black Tourmaline, or Pink Tourmaline, etc...
Here we have a Black Tourmaline crystal from Madagascar.
