This tower from Shaba Zaire is a wonderful example of natural beauty, within this translucent hybrid between smoky quartz and citrine; you can spot crystals who have formed within another crystal, known as "phantoms".
Quartz has the inherent ability to take on many different colors: Each color variation in quartz is determined by the metal found in its makeup and that metals unique relationship with natural radiation. Smoky being high in aluminum triggers its grey/brown coloration, where as iron provides the yellow in citrine. This particular piece has an apparent gradient from its point down. It shifts gradually from it's smoky tip to it's citrine base
